Most modern boilers incorporate a fan to expel the exhaust products of combustion from the boiler and allow fresh air to enter the combustion chamber. Boilers have safety measures to make sure the burner does not come on if the fan fails to operate. Older fans are are usually single or twin speed whereas the newer fans have a small pcb mounted on them to control the fan. New type fans usually have multiple connections to it.
